No, I did not give up on my blog. I am still here, I just needed to regroup a little, I got a new job at the beginning of this year and it has thrown me for a loop and worn me out.
Also, I want to revamp the blog. I was originally wanting to do this a lot sooner but…life. So I am hoping to get some new backgrounds and some pictures up very soon and be back 100% with new content (hopefully weekly).
Please don’t leave me, I WILL be back and better than ever!
Long time no see, huh? I know I know…I have no excuse. I promise to try and do better.
Anyways, I found this Holiday questions tag online and liked it so I thought I’d give it a try. I “tag” you all to answer them as well. Merry Christmas Everyone!
-Favorite Christmas movie?
White Christmas is a family favorite. I love The Grinch with Jim Carrey and I always have to Watch Santa Baby on ABC Family every year.
-Are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list?
-Show us an embarrassing Christmas Card photo!
I don’t think my family has ever done Christmas card pictures…soooo, sorry!
-Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Yes, they are my favorite. Living in Ohio we get our fair share of snow so I get disappointed when we don’t have one. This Winter has been on the warm side and it is supposed to be around 55 degrees on Christmas Day. I may be the only person who is disappointed in that fact. Sorry, but Christmas should be cold.
-Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We go to my Grandma’s house or one of my Aunt’s houses.
-What’s your favorite Christmas song?
Oh, I have so many…I love Christmas music. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (I love the message in this song and it makes me think of when I was young and Christmas was this truly magical time), Baby It’s Cold Outside, and of course, All I Want for Christmas is You.
-Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Nope. I’m a Christmas morning kind of girl. I do still like to get up bright and early though. J
-Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Donner, Blitzen, Comet, Cupid, Prancer, Rudolph…wow 8, that is pretty good! I went and looked to see who I missed…it was Vixen. Damn.
-What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?
It’s simple, but I like putting up the tree at my mom’s house, we play Christmas music and it is fun going through all the old ornaments and remembering past Christmases. When my dad was in kindergarten he made this elf ornament and it somehow became tradition that it is always the first ornament we put on the tree and we take a picture. It is old and falling apart but I love it.
-Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. It’s always been fake. I just think it is easier and now it is kind of tradition.
-Hands down, what’s your all-time favorite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?
I don’t really know…Christmas Cookies? Like Christmas shaped sugar cookies with icing and Holiday sprinkles. Or Starbucks’ Chestnut Praline Lattes!
-Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I like giving gifts of course but I’m not going to lie I like getting them too J
-What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Alaska maybe? I’ve always wanted to go dog sledding there.
-Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?
No, not really.
-Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I fail. My family makes fun of me sometimes. I just get annoyed and rush it.
-Most memorable Holiday moment?
So let me tell you a story, when I was 2 I really wanted a Waterbaby baby doll because my cousin had one. If you aren’t a kid from the 90’s and you don’t know what a Waterbaby is, it’s a rubber baby doll that you fill with water and it makes it fell like a “real baby”. (Disclaimer: Now that I am 25 and have actually held a real human baby, I will tell you that from what I remember the Waterbaby actually feels nothing like a real baby.) Anyways I digress; I finally got it for Christmas and was so unbelievably excited I screamed. It is on video and I used to love watching it. I should dig it up and watch it again…But then I would also have to find a VCR…not an easy feat in 2015.
-What made you realize the truth about Santa?
I remember just asking my mom one random night if he was real and she reluctantly told me the truth. I still make her put “from Santa” on some of my presents, forever a child at heart.
-Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Sometimes, but I know I never stick with them so it’s not very serious.
-What makes the Holidays special for you?
Being with my family and being able to catch up.
That’s all. I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their family and friends or whoever they spend it with!
“I’m just going to walk into Ulta to check out the new Holiday gift sets, just looking.”-said no girl, ever. Long story short, I walked out with a bag full of things and a twinge of buyer’s remorse. Here’s what was in the bag:
Too Faced ‘La Petite Maison’ Holiday Gift Set: If there were awards for cutest packaging it would definitely go to Too Faced. I mean a dollhouse? From someone who loved Polly Pocket as a kid (oh, the 90’s) this is a clever way to package makeup. The gift set comes with a deluxe sample of their ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara and 12 eyeshadows that look gorgeous for the Holidays.
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil: I’ve been on the hunt for a good eyeliner for my waterline since none of the ones I currently have work that well. I haven’t heard anything about this one but it says right on the product it is for your waterline so it must be decent right? I’ll test it out and let you know.
Real Techniques ‘Miracle Complexion’ Sponge: My old one was gross so I needed a new one. They are 1/3 of the price of a Beauty Blender and work just as well, if not better. A great bargain buy.
Urban Decay ‘All-Nighter’ Setting Spray (travel size): I needed a small travel one for when I go to Vegas. (side note- For my 25th birthday my sisters gave me tickets to see Britney Spears in Vegas!! Its one of my items on 101 in 1001 list. You can check out the rest of the list here.)
Viva La Juicy/Viva La Juicy Noir Rollerball Set: Again, I wanted a travel size perfume for Vegas in a couple weeks. The Noir scent is one of my all time favorites.
Free Gift: For my perfume purchases I got a set of Marc Jacobs mini composition notebooks. They are super cute and I always need things to write in. Win!
That’s all I got my hands on during my impromptu shopping trip. Still a little more than I needed (okay, a lot more). Let me know what other good holiday gift sets you’ve seen so far. Hope you enjoyed this post–my bank account did not.
Well everyone, it is OFFICIALLY Fall (does happy dance by myself). I have put together some of my favorite things to wear, do, and drink in the Fall, enjoy!
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Go ahead, call me a basic white girl. I deserve it, especially because I am sitting in a Starbucks drinking one in my yoga pants as I type this. But sorry I am not sorry because these drinks are the bomb. Maybe it is because they are seasonal so the excitement that you can only get them for a limited time is part of their appeal but they also taste freaking good. Plus, Starbucks has added real pumpkin flavor in them this year! So if you don’t get one because you don’t want to be “basic” I feel sorry for you because you are really missing out.
I drink (hot) green tea all year round, but I especially love to cuddle up with a hot cup and read a book on Sundays in the Fall.
L’Oreal True Match Foundation
This is not news if you have read some of my other post so I won’t bore you with a repeat of my love letter to this foundation. You can check out my thoughts on it here.
Berry colored lipsticks
Fall=darker lip colors and my favorite shades are berry tones. Here are a couple of my favorite choices:
I got these Guess riding boots last year from Macy’s so I don’t have a link but I love these. The color just screams Fall and they are very comfortable. The only negative is that the buckle on them presses into my skin when I cross my legs (beauty is pain right?)
I feel like a kid again when I go to a pumpkin patch. They are so fun and a great activity to do with the family. I went with my 2 sisters, their husbands and my nephews last year and everyone had a blast. Burwinkel Farms is pretty close to me so if you are around the Cincinnati area you should check it out. In addition to the pumpkins they have corn mazes and activities for the little ones. It is sure to be a good time!
Burn Fall Candles
Bath and Body Works Candles and I are in our own little love affair. Please don’t try and come between us, we are very happy together. J But seriously I love candles in general but there really is nothing better than being in a house (or condo in my case) that smells like Fall. I buy at least 2 (when they are 2 for $24) every year in Fall. This year I bought Sweater Weather and Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow. They smell heavenly and the scent really does linger throughout my entire place. If Bath and Body would only bring back Blueberry Pumpkin Patch and Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut all would be right with the world.
What are some of your Favorite things about Fall? Leave them in the comments below!
They recently opened a stand-alone Lush Cosmetics store in Kenwood Towne Center. It was previously just a stand in the beauty department at Macy’s. They were having their “Grand Opening” so I may have gone a little crazy…(shocking, I know).
I discovered their Mask of Magnaminty from watching various beauty vloggers so I tried it a year or two ago and really liked it. I think of it as the original Glam Glow mask, but half the price. It leaves your face feeling minty fresh (a good thing, trust me) and squeaky clean. Oddly enough, the Mask of Magnaminty was not one of the items I walked out of the store with. But here is what I did get my hands on:
Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub
I had been hearing all sorts of good things about Lush’s Ocean Salt face and body scrub and I have been interested in trying new exfoliators so I made sure to grab one while there. Now let me preface this by saying I have a VERY sensitive face. The scrub is infused with vodka and this did not go over well with my skin. It burned, not unbearably, I could deal with it but I don’t really think that is what it should feel like. I don’t want a scrub to inflict pain on me. I want it to feel good and somewhat relaxing. But that is just me personally. The salt that is used to exfoliate just felt harsh on my skin. Also, I found it left a sticky/rubbery feel to my face when it was done. It kind of made me want to wash my face again, but I didn’t (this feeling went away once I dried my face with a towel). Lots of people rave about this product, but it just was not for my sensitive face and me.
I cut 6 inches off my hair last November (might as well have been 16 inches for me because I covet long hair). Ever since I cut it I have been trying to grow it back out. I came across the Roots hair treatment and thought it sounded promising. I usually put a coconut oil mask on my hair for a treatment (probably not as often as I should). But this caught my eye so I thought “Why not?” It is a deep moisturizing conditioning treatment that is actually meant to go on the roots of your hair (hence the name), which is really where your hair grows from. I have used it twice and so far I really like it. Just run a decent amount from roots to the ends of your hair and leave sit for 5-10 minutes. Then shampoo and condition like normal in the shower and VOILA! You have shiny, silky, and healthy looking hair!
Eau Roma Toner Water
Toner water, how I love thee. It is just so refreshing on your face and it has a smell to it that I can’t really place but for some reason makes me think of being on a beach vacation so when I spray it I feel calm and happy. It is not a harsh toner that has alcohol in it. It is very soothing, which makes my sensitive face happy.
Mint Julips Sugar Scrub Lip Service Lip Balm
So I am at the counter checking out and the cashier tells me if I spend like $9 more dollars I get the free gift. She might as well have told me I would win a new car because I couldn’t find something fast enough. I grabbed a lip scrub and lip pot from the counter and was not disappointed when I got home. The lip scrub is amazing. I have pretty dry lips, especially in the winter so I need to scrub if I want to wear a matte lipstick, my obsession in the Fall and Winter. I rub the scrub (that rhymed!) all over my lips in a circular motion and then I take a wet washcloth and gently rub the excess sugar off my lips. I then go in with my Lip Service lip balm and I am ready to go. My lips feel plump and super fresh. Definitely worth the impulse buy at the counter.
The Free Gift
Well first off, it was wrapped up like a real present (A+ Lush!) and it came with the Dream Cream Hand Cream, Sea Vegetable Soap Bar, and a Comforter Bubble Bar. I did not love the soap bar; it again left my body with that sticky feeling. I went back in with my regular body wash afterwards. I did like the hand cream and as far as the bubble bar, I haven’t used it yet but I am excited to try it in the bath very soon!
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my products purchased. I will use the Ocean Salt to exfoliate my body instead of my face so it doesn’t completely go to waste and I am sure I will be back soon to purchase a new Mask of Magnaminty.
What are your favorite Lush products? Let me know in the comments below!
BECCA Cosmetics is a newer brand (at least to me) but they have hands down my favorite pressed highlighter formula. The first one I tried was Opal and then, when Jaclyn Hill did her collaboration with them to make Champagne Pop, I of course bought it the first day it was available on Sephora.com. They are similar in color so I don’t think you need to have both (I am just obsessed) especially since they are a tad expensive, being a higher end product. I wanted to do a comparisonso you can make an informed choice and decide which is best for you. Let the battle begin…
I purchased Opal and immediately fell in love. It is so smooth and the color pay off is a dream. It doesn’t have large chunks of glitter but just the right amount of shimmer to it. When I got it the only color choices BECCA had was Opal or Moonstone, a lighter cream color toned highlight. I already had the Mary Louminizer by the Balm, which I feel is a lighter tone so I wanted to get the darker Opal for variation. It was the only highlighter I used for the longest time.
It is no secret, nor should it come as a surprise, that I bought this for no other reason than because Jaclyn Hill made it. I love the name and the formulation is the same as Opal, extremely smooth and blendable. The color is very similar to Opal but a tad lighter. Champagne pop has a more yellow tone to it whereas Opal has a gold hue.
& the winner is…
It is with a slightly heavy heart that I say I prefer Opal as my highlighter of choice (pause for gasps). Though I still love Champagne Pop, I think Opal compliments my skin tone best and lays better on the face. Champagne Pop is a limited edition but is still available and can be purchased here. Opal is a part of their regular collection and can be purchased anywhere BECCA is sold and online. As much as I heart Champagne Pop and Jaclyn, Opal is my ride or die highlighter. Whichever you like better, props to you BECCA for making a stellar product all around!
So what’s your favorite highlighter right now? Leave it in the comments below!

Hello my lovies, It’s August and it is hot, so I’ve put together my summer makeup go-tos to help battle the heat:
1. L’Oreal True Match Foundation– This is the first liquid foundation I ever tried. I used to be scared of liquid, so I stuck with my Bare Minerals powder. But once I bought my Sigma F80 foundation brush, I was all about the liquid. L’Oreal has a ton of colors to choose from and it offers a medium-full coverage that is buildable.
2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer– I will admit, I only bought this because Jaclyn Hill said she loved it. But once I tried it, I was hooked. It is exactly how the name describes it. It is truly weightless, I don’t feel like I am even putting anything on my face. It also is full coverage and it doesn’t crease. A lot of times I don’t even set it with a powder. The only thing is I wish they had a bigger color selection. I had to get the lightest color (Fair Neutral) because the next color option was darker than my foundation. The Fair Neutral works, I just have to balance it out by putting it on my forehead and chin as well.
3. Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzer– I really like cream bronzers for summer time, it gives your face that healthy sun-kissed glow. I do set this with my Hoola powder at times just in case, but it still works. This is a tad on the pricier side for bronzers (I mean it is Chanel) but I had been wanting it forever and finally when I was shopping in Chicago I just had to grab it. But I did use a gift card! 🙂
4. Becca & Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop Highlighter– You already know I bought this highlighter as soon as it became available on Sephora.com. I love Becca’s Opal highlighter and Jaclyn helped create this one so it was a done deal. (This is Limited Edition and selling out FAST) I will have a more in-depth review of this in an upcoming post.
5. Covergirl Super Sizer Lash Blast Mascara– When I opened this and saw the wand was thin and tiny I was so upset because I like mine to be wider and fluffy, but once I swiped it through my lashes I was pleasantly surprised with the results. It creates great volume and the small wand allows you to get every lash.
That’s all, stay cool! Fall is just around the corner and I cannot wait! (Don’t kill me…)
